We have many fun things to do in Upstate SC and Western NC!  The Cliffs at Keowee Springs is within easy reach of outdoor adventures, interesting historic towns with great restaurants and unique shopping opportunities, local farms, and other sources of amusement.  Lake Keowee, Lake Jocassee, and Lake Hartwell offer boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing.

Our central location means urban adventures like shopping, dining out and theater are within a short drive: 30 minutes to Clemson, 1 hour to Greenville, 1.5 hours to Asheville, and 2 hours to Atlanta or Charlotte.  Asheville offers an arts community, trendy restaurants, and the historic splendor of The Biltmore. There are 150 waterfalls within Oconee County alone, many of them accessible with a short hike.  And the beaches and southern culture of Charleston and Savannah are only half a day’s drive.  With so many options to choose from, there’s no excuse to be bored!

If you discover more attractions to add to our list below, we want to hear from you!

What a long and interesting life McKinney Chapel has had.  It was originally a log structure which was used as as a church and a schoolhouse.  The people of the community saw to its construction; including the McKinney’s, Chapman’s, Stewart’s, Mosley’s, Ellensburg’s, and Bowie’s. To help preserve all this history, the McKinney Chapel Committee is researching the possibility of having the building placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it's a thriving church!

McKinney Chapel Committee offers an ecumenical service on the 4th Sunday of the month at 10:00 a.m.  Local visiting ministers from various denominations provide our services.  Afterward, enjoy fellowship and refreshments under the outdoor pavilion from May to October and at the Clubhouse during the cooler months.  Services are also held at major holidays.

Please come, hear and enjoy our inspirational choir directed by Kirby Colson.  This wonderful choir is made up of local residents, dedicated to bringing something very special to our services.  If you would like to receive news on McKinney Chapel Services and special events send an email request to McKinneyChapel@gmail.com.
